Created in October 1964, Wonder Man was the beginning of an epic tale about a young man named Simon Williams and the incredible events that took place in his young life. Simon and his brother, Eric, struggled under the iron rule of their father. As they grew into their late teens, Eric chose a life crime while Simon stayed behind, taking over the family business after their father dies. During his time in business, he made the wrong decisions and ended being in debt to a villain that kept him out of jail. His brother Eric has found an endeavor for Simon to invest in. The money Simon used was from funds he obtained through illegal embezzlement. Once the deal with his brother was found to be illegal, the ball kept rolling until Simon was bailed out by the villain Baron Heinrich Zemo.

Wonder Man And The Villain That Started Him

Zemo traded this bail for Simons service to him in the Masters of Evil. He came up with a plot for Simon, now given super powers by Zemo, to infiltrate the Avengers and kill them all. When Simon began on this quest, he ends up realizing he cannot take the lives of the Avengers and joins forces with them. His body being made of pure ionic energy, Simon deals with a constant struggle of whether he is still a human or not. He feels insecure because of this tragic circumstance. Even though Zemo held the antidote he needed every to stay alive over his head, Simon saved the Avengers, only to fade away. For some time, fans thought he had given his life for greater good.

Faithful fans of this character know that in later years, he began to make appearances in other comic book tales. One great aspect of collecting older and newer comic books is because it is the only way you can see awesome characters like this resurface to fight more evil.
