When you are looking for a comic book you will notice you have a wide variety of comics to collect like G.I. Joe. However, you may not realize G.I. Joe has a long and storied past. The first series of the comic would be started in the 1950's and be based off of stories from World War II and the experiences of some of the G.I.s had in the war. However, this series would be short lived and not even make it out of the decade. In the eighties, though, the series would be revived by Marvel as the series many have grown to love. This series would last for over one hundred fifty issues with many subseries before being cancelled. The series would remain dormant for several years after this before being picked back up by several companies each who had a run for a year or two. Currently the series has the original writer back, Larry Hama, and is being printed on a monthly basis by IDW.

Well Known Villains In G.I. Joe

The villains the Joe team would have to take on was commonly the radical terrorist group called Cobra. The leader of this group was none other than Cobra Commander, but as you will notice he would evolve into many different roles as the battle for Cobras control would take many different forms. In battling with Cobra the Joes would often encounter some of his underlings and even the arms dealers of the world. At times the Joes would even have to battle the rogue motorcycle gang called the Dreadnocks. This team was lead by what can be described as a shape changer named Zartan. As you can tell the Joes would lead many adventures all over the world battling this terrorist force and often end up getting to partner with strange bedfellows for the time.

Why Collecting G.I. Joe Is A Great Option

For many collectors they will not think about collecting these because they are still considered a newer comic. However, for people who are collecting realistic war based comics these will not get any better. Since you will be able to find these easily most of the time it can be easy for you to complete the collection, but also get to read all of these and see they can still apply to the turbulent world now. Without this option, you may have to rely on the super heroes unlike G.I. Joe which are seen in most of the comic bo

oks now.
