It was during the mid sixties and the whole of seventies that the Star Trek comic series was being published by Gold Key. Since more people are interesting in watching the series than reading the books, they tend to forget that these comics are an integral part of this whole legacy. There is no dearth of excitement as far as the entertainment value of these books is concerned. The comics are truly a gift for Star Trek fans.

The transformers have always been loved characters in the modern day and age. They are known for their extreme powers and their way of dealing with conflict as if they were human. Having different personalities and different ways of dealing with the world around they make for fond characters with which a lot of people can sympathies and find themselves within the bounds of character. More often, the abilities to transform into varied array of machinery as well as the power to change themselves back into human like robots, make them further more interesting to read, either in comics or, see in so many movies or other type of media.

Created in October 1964, Wonder Man was the beginning of an epic tale about a young man named Simon Williams and the incredible events that took place in his young life. Simon and his brother, Eric, struggled under the iron rule of their father. As they grew into their late teens, Eric chose a life crime while Simon stayed behind, taking over the family business after their father dies. During his time in business, he made the wrong decisions and ended being in debt to a villain that kept him out of jail. His brother Eric has found an endeavor for Simon to invest in. The money Simon used was from funds he obtained through illegal embezzlement. Once the deal with his brother was found to be illegal, the ball kept rolling until Simon was bailed out by the villain Baron Heinrich Zemo.

Conan the Barbarian is a fictional character created by the fiction writer Robert E. Howard in 1932. The character first appeared in Weird Tales magazine in a series of stories written by Mr. Howard. Since then the character has been featured numerous times in comics, books, movies, television shows and more recently video games. The character has appeared in comic books steadily since 1970. The two main publishers of Conan comics are Marvel comics and Dark Horse comics. Marvel had Conan the Barbarian from 1970–1993 and Savage Sword of Conan from 1974–1995. Dark Horse had their Conan series in 2003 and is currently publishing compilations of the 1970s Marvel Comics series in trade paperback format.

The Avengers, as a group of existing superhero characters, was created by Stan Lee of Marvel Comics to be pitted against the Justice League of rival company, DC Comics. The group was first introduced in September of 1963 in a comic book solely dedicated to the team. This debut was unlike the usual way most characters were introduced, appearing somewhat as a guest character in a particular comic book. The group started out with five members in the persona's of Thor, Iron Man, Wasp, Ant-Man and the Hulk. Captain America was only introduced and came part of the team in the sixth issue of the series.
